Minerals Extraction

The EICC and GeSI aim to enable companies to expand their knowledge about extractives and conflict minerals and to demonstrate that they are sourcing in a responsible manner.

To accomplish this, the EICC and GeSI provides several tools and resources:

  • Conflict-Free Smelter Program. The Conflict-Free Smelter Program is a voluntary program in which an independent third party evaluates a smelter’s procurement activities and determines if the smelter demonstrated that all the materials they processed originated from conflict-free sources. Companies can use the results from the program to source conflict-free materials.
  • Conflict Minerals Reporting Template and Dashboard. The Template and associated Dashboard were developed to facilitate disclosure and communication of information regarding smelters that provide material to a company’s supply chain.
  • General Extractives and Conflict Minerals Resources. As a service to our members and other companies, the EICC and GeSI developed this list of resources which companies may find useful for understanding more about extractives and conflict minerals.
  • Extractives Reports. The EICC and GeSI commissioned two reports related to minerals. These reports are available on the Reports page.
